To pursue film one needs to have something produced. Double edged sword. #Rollingeyes. I took matters into my own hands and began creating my own super shorts and submitting them to festivals. I soon saw the spectrum of "short film" ranged from 60 seconds to 40 minutes. #Applesandoranges. How fair is that? Well, frankly, it's not. The bigger question I posed was, "Why weren't there festivals that celebrated just short films?" I asked myself, "Why not create a space where artists can have a voice regardless of the length or budget?" And so the seed was planted.

The Berlin Flash Film Festival raises awareness of the impact of super and micro short films. Artist of all forms should have the opportunity and space to voice their creative work on an international level regardless of length and budget. We are just that.

Pierre began his professional career at a young age with The Hamburg Ballet performing in Romeo and JulietHamlet, and Sleeping Beauty.  He later appeared in the original cast of Tarzan in Germany, the White Vampire in Tanz der Vampire, and the role of Pepper in Mamma Mia! in Essen, Stuttgart, and Vienna.  Pierre's professional career soon carried on from stage to film and television where he was seen in Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten, Unter anderen Umständen, and as a finalist on Got to Dance Season 2.  Pierre continued on to star in the short films Speed Dating and She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not?, both winners of international film festivals.  Pierre is the co-founder of BFFF and Oktober 23rd Productions.

WRITER: Gregory Falatek

SYNOPSIS: An elderly man spends his days tending to his sick wife from within the confines of a hospital. The two share their last meal together in sadness and bliss as the woman passes away. The man spends the next week reminiscing on the beautiful life he got to spend with his best friend. He dies from a broken heart.

WRITER'S STATEMENT: This story is about broken heart syndrome. The beauty of spending your entire life with someone you love is too surreal for words. This short film examines the end of the road for an elderly couple. Death may be intimidating but finding someone to share the ride with is a truly amazing thing.

Director: Justin Krul

Justin Krul grew up in Scheveningen Beach, The Netherlands remaking Hollywood hits from the early age of eight. After his studies to become a director and screenwriter, Justin Krul now creates his own beautiful short stories. From the script until the final edit, he captures some of our great inner questions. Questions everybody struggles with at some point in their lives. His films portrait themes like the fear of speaking your mind, breaking expectations and celebrating difference. By focussing on visual minimalism he makes the stories real, authentic and a little philosophic. As a director he embraces honesty, raw emotions, individual struggles and outspoken doubt about letting go of our fears to become who we really are.
